Motion Designer [Contract-to-Perm]

The Monad Foundation is a team of dedicated ecosystem and community builders who are on a mission to massively grow the impact of decentralized tech. We believe that the Monad blockchain--the performant and parallel EVM Layer 1--will help decentralized apps eat the world.

The Role

As a Motion Designer at Monad Foundation, you’ll shape how our brand moves, feels, and tells stories across every platform. You’ll turn static design into expressive motion that makes complex ideas feel clear, human, and engaging.

Working closely with the Design and Content teams, you’ll help imagine how ideas move and bring them to life through polished, intentional animation. This role blends creative exploration with technical execution, requiring a strong design foundation and the ability to translate brand systems into cohesive motion.

What You Will Do

• Create high-quality motion and animation assets for campaigns, educational explainers, product demos, livestreams, and social media content.

• Develop animated logos, transitions, and brand motion that reinforce Monad’s visual identity.

• Design and animate event collateral, including graphics for conferences, hackathons, and community activations.

• Translate static design systems into polished, expressive animation with strong attention to timing, rhythm, and composition.

• Collaborate with the Design and Content Teams to ensure all motion aligns with Monad’s brand and creative direction.

• Contribute during early concept and storyboarding phases to help shape how ideas move.

• Build and maintain motion libraries and reusable assets for consistency and scalability.

• Stay current on trends and techniques in animation, design, and technology to bring fresh thinking to the team.

Example Deliverables / Day-to-Day Work

• Animate educational explainers for Monad and Pipeline channels.

• Design livestream graphics and dynamic lower-thirds for shows like Monad in the Morning.

• Build animated visual identities for events: conferences, hackathons, or online campaigns.

• Develop short, platform-native motion clips for X, TikTok, and Instagram.

• Collaborate with ecosystem teams to produce animated UI product demos.

• Apply AI-assisted tools to speed up workflows and unlock new creative directions.

Who You Are

• Proven motion design experience for brand, product, or marketing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling, timing, and design craft.

• Strong foundation in After Effects, Lottie and handoff specifications with interest or experience in Figma, Rive, and AI tooling.

• Solid grasp of typography, layout, color, and animation principles.

• Comfortable collaborating with designers, art directors, and cross-functional teams.

• Experience building or maintaining motion libraries and reusable assets.

• Organized, adaptable, and curious about new tools and workflows.

• Thoughtful about accessibility and how motion can enhance clarity and user experience.

• Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Located in or able to generally adhere to EST time zone work hours (remote).

• Crypto-native: understands crypto culture and main characters.

• Familiarity with prototyping tools (Principle, Framer, Invision)

• Knowledge of additional tools: Blender, Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine, Figma, or Rive.

• Experience with sound design, storyboarding, or animatics.

• Scripting skills (e.g. JavaScript for AE, Python for Blender).

Portfolio Expectations

Candidates should provide a portfolio that demonstrates:

• Strong examples of 2D and 3D animation that demonstrate storytelling, pacing, and design craft.

• Work showing how you think—storyboards, motion studies, or early explorations.

• Logo, title, and transition animations that show brand motion understanding.

• Examples of video editing and sequence assembly showing pacing, rhythm, and narrative flow.

• Educational or technical content presented in a clear, engaging way.

• Creative projects that showcase design fundamentals (typography, layout, color).

• Bonus: work relevant to crypto/web3 culture, livestream/podcast design, or interactive UI animation.
