Job Description:
Shield AI’s Manufacturing Team is looking for a Sr. Material Flow Engineer to join us. You will have the responsibility to develop and optimize Shield AI’s warehousing and material flow operations for best-in-class quality, reliability, speed, and asset utilization. This role involves using lean material flow principles, data analytics, problem solving, and modeling, to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of all materials.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement layouts for material flow and storage to achieve targeted inventory levels for new and existing facilities. Ensure that storage strategies are aligned across the supply chain.
  • Design and implement strategies for efficient material flow from receipt to production lineside and any reverse logistics required. Use value stream mapping to ensure end-to-end process optimization.
  • Develop packaging solutions for use inside Shield AI facilities and between suppliers. Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure packages are optimized for efficiency, part safety, and logistics density.
  • Create capacity models to ensure we have adequate storage solutions.
  • Required qualifications:

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment, preferably working directly on material flow engineering solutions
  • Ability to read technical documentation such as drawings and CAD data
  • Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership driving projects from concept to completion
  • Experience with material handling equipment and packaging design and implementation
  • Experience with factory design and set up
  • Experience with value stream mapping, continuous flow, single piece flow, and workstation design
  • Understanding of a variety of hardware manufacturing processes for both electronics (PCBAs, sensor hardware, etc.) and structures, mechanical components, and electromechanical systems
