About Polymarket
Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized "house," Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future.
We're growing fast — both in terms of volume ($21B traded in 2025) and adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media and we need your help adding fuel to the fire.
About the Role
Polymarket is looking for an Employment Counsel to sit inside Legal and Compliance, working day-to-day alongside our Chief People Person on the full spectrum of employment matters across a growing, global workforce. You'll own your domain and be expected to resolve issues without routing everything upward.
The mandate is straightforward: keep the company's employment practices clean, well-documented, and legally sound as we scale. That means being the go-to resource for HR on daily questions, building the policy infrastructure that a company at our stage needs, and managing any litigation or agency charges that come in.
What You'll Do
Draft and review offer letters, contractor agreements, and advisor arrangements, ensuring every document is accurate, consistent, and legally sound
Field daily employment questions from the People team directly without unnecessary escalation
Manage active employee complaints and performance-related documentation from intake through resolution, keeping appropriate records and advising on risk at each step
Partner with the Chief People Person on employee relations issues, acting as a legal advisor and thought partner
Track and respond to employment litigation and agency charges, including coordinating with outside counsel and owning the company's position throughout
Build and maintain core employment documents — offer templates, severance frameworks, and policy materials — starting from scratch where necessary
Proactively identify the company's employment risks and drive issues to resolution
What We're Looking For
JD with active bar membership in good standing
5+ years of employment law experience, either in-house or at a firm with direct client counseling work
Prior experience working directly with an HR or People team on a daily basis, not just occasional legal reviews
Hands-on employment litigation and agency charge management experience, including EEOC, state equivalents, and civil litigation
Demonstrated ability to independently handle classification questions, employee relations issues, and termination decisions without senior counsel weighing in on every matter
Experience building or overhauling core employment documents from the ground up — handbooks, offer letter templates, severance frameworks
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where the processes you build will often be the first version that exists
(Plus) Experience working at a crypto, fintech, or similarly regulated company
(Plus) Experience building employment policies at a high-growth startup where headcount and complexity were growing simultaneously
