About the Role at RobCo
RobCo is building the category of Autonomous Industrial Robotics and we're doing it fast. We believe that automating the ordinary frees humans to do the extraordinary, and we're building the end-to-end robotics infrastructure to make that possible - hardware, software, and AI in one stack that just works.
As our Strategic Finance Manager, you will be the analytical core of our finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. You will take ownership of central analysis, reporting, and project controlling across our different business models, spotting what needs fixing, automating what can be automated, and helping us scale through a pivotal period of growth.
Your Responsibilities
Drive COGS and gross margin analyses across all business models (RaaS, Sale + SaaS, OEM), and maintain and evolve fleet depreciation and cost models.
Establish robust project controlling for our deployments, implementing full-cost calculations, contribution margin accounting, and ongoing post-calculation.
Ensure accurate valuation of work-in-progress (WIP) and inventory in close collaboration with Accounting, including quarterly target-vs-actual reconciliations, loss-free valuation, and provisions for onerous contracts.
Collaborate systematically with Technical Program Managers to track project progress, billing readiness, scope changes, and remaining cost estimates without double counting across financial years.
Prepare and update quarterly Board reporting materials focusing on TCV, revenue, gross margin, Opex, and cash burn and advance RobCo's financial models across multiple scenario analyses for executive decision-making.
Lead the transition from remaining performance obligations to revenue, forecasting across customers/segments, and restructuring quarterly reporting with clear reconciliations between HGB, IFRS, and US GAAP.
Partner closely with Sales/Deal Desk, Solutions & Delivery, Supply Chain, and Accounting to align deal structures, purchase requests, and material usage into consistent financial models.
Support annual financial statements and forecast cycles alongside the CFO, external tax advisors, and auditors, serving as a strategic sparring partner on deal economics and revenue recognition.
We're looking for someone who has:
Completed vocational training or a degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or comparable experience.
Several years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Controlling, ideally within a fast-paced scale-up or manufacturing/plant-engineering environment.
Deep technical expertise in full-cost accounting, project controlling, WIP valuation, provisions for loss-making contracts, and advanced Excel modeling (depreciation schedules, cash flow, WIP forecasts).
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (HGB, IFRS, US GAAP), revenue recognition in project business, and familiarity with ERP systems (experience with Odoo or Xentral is a plus).
Culture-aligned mindset: Strong ownership, pragmatic and self-driven working style, high integrity as a strategic sparring partner to leadership, and the ability to thrive with minimal onboarding in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
Very good English skills (fluent German is required, C1+ level).
Why join RobCo?
Develop modular, software-defined robotics solutions with us that set new standards in automation.
Help us build robots equipped with state-of-the-art AI that perceive their environment, analyze data, and make intelligent decisions in real time.
As part of a very dynamic and fast-growing scale-up, you will take on responsibility from day one, drive your own projects, and see the direct impact of your work.
Flat hierarchies, open communication, and regular 360° feedback enable fast decisions and support your professional and personal development.
Wellpass membership (7,200+ studios across Germany), regular team events, and a team that takes both the work and the culture seriously.
Flexible working hours, a modern office, and - depending on the role - the option to work from home.
Regular team events - from relaxed beer & pizza nights on the rooftop terrace to shared experiences on ski trips or at Oktoberfest.
