Founded in 2020 with office hubs in San Francisco, New York City, Austin, Chicago, and London, our team thinks big and moves fast, and we're looking for smart, hardworking builders and scalers to join us on our journey to create a better future of work with AI.
We are hiring for a people & workplace specialist in our London office, one of our three major global hubs. This role will be critical in supporting our EMEA team through continued growth. From the physical environment to internal and external events to daily HR tasks, you'll have a wide canvas to support and delight our London WRITER colleagues. This is a hands-on role where you'll own both the people operations and workplace experience for our London team, ensuring every employee feels supported, connected, and set up to do their best work.
You'll be the on-the-ground presence for the People team in London, managing everything from ticket queues and employee inquiries to onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration across EMEA. At the same time, you'll own the daily workplace experience — keeping the office well-equipped, organized, and welcoming, planning events and team gatherings, and continuously improving how the space works for the people in it. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves building great employee experiences and wants to have a direct, visible impact on a growing team.
This role is office-based in our London office at the Parcels building, with 5 days in the office every week. This role reports to the head of people operations.
Own the People Ops ticket queue for the London office, triaging and responding to employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, onboarding, documentation, employment verifications, and general People Operations support, escalating or redirecting to other People Team members as appropriate
Act as the on-site liaison for all People Operations functions across EMEA, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits and compensation administration, and time off, while partnering with Talent to schedule interview loops and greet candidates in office
Create a welcoming and productive daily experience for our London WRITER employees and their guests, managing office inventory to ensure the space is well-equipped with snacks, beverages, and supplies
Organize and support internal and external company events and meetings, including the new hire onboarding program and global All Hands, ensuring every gathering runs smoothly and reflects WRITER's culture
Own space and capacity planning for the London office, continually enhancing the office layout and seating plan as the team grows, and managing mail, shipping, receiving, and other office logistics
Maintain the London office budget and manage relationships with property management and vendors for various services, repairs, and support, ensuring financial stewardship and high ROI for our spend
Create and iterate on office policies and processes that drive efficiency and better employee experiences across the London hub
Experience in a Human Resources or People Operations role, preferably at a high-growth tech company where you've supported a scaling team through rapid change
A proactive problem solver who anticipates and resolves issues before they escalate, with a hospitality mindset that is friendly, approachable, and genuinely invested in creating delightful employee experiences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate a high level of professionalism, with strong proactive communication habits both in sync and async settings
Exceptional prioritization and time management skills, with the ability to juggle many tasks and competing priorities without dropping the ball
Hands-on experience managing office operations, vendor relationships, and budgets, with a track record of making physical workspaces better for the people in them
A builder's mindset with genuine excitement about creating scalable processes and continuously improving how a People function operates day to day
A passion for workplace culture and employee experience, with the ability to bring WRITER's values to life in everything you do — Connect, Challenge, Own
