Client Full-Stack Engineer — IM Chat Platform, Android Focus

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain client-side applications for Binance BigPay’s Instant Messaging platform, with Android as the primary focus.

Build and improve core messaging features across client platforms, including real-time chat, group chat, media messaging, message synchronization, offline messaging, push notifications, and rich communication experiences.

Participate in client-side architecture design and implementation, ensuring code quality, maintainability, scalability, and consistent user experience across Android, iOS, and Web.

Use AI-powered development tools to support cross-stack frontend development, including understanding, debugging, modifying, and validating code across Android, iOS, and Web codebases.

Contribute to cross-platform feature alignment, including UI behavior, message state handling, error handling, data models, API integration, and edge-case consistency.

Build and integrate client-side features with RESTful APIs, WebSocket/MQTT/gRPC or similar real-time communication protocols.

Contribute to local storage, offline-first experience, message state management, and synchronization logic across client platforms.

Optimize client application performance, including startup speed, memory usage, battery consumption, network efficiency, and UI responsiveness.

Use AI tools to improve engineering efficiency, including code generation, debugging, testing, documentation, API integration, refactoring, and rapid prototyping.

Support end-to-end feature delivery by collaborating with backend teams on API design, integration, troubleshooting, and production issue investigation.

Improve application stability through crash analysis, logging, monitoring, debugging, and performance profiling.

Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, testing, and CI/CD improvements.

For Senior level: mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical design decisions, and help improve engineering standards and cross-platform development practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 1～3+ years of software development experience for Engineer level; 3～5+ years for Senior Engineer level.
• Solid production experience in Android development using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Good understanding of Android application development, Android SDK, Jetpack components, asynchronous programming, and modern client-side architecture.
• Strong willingness and ability to work beyond a single platform, especially across Android, iOS, and Web frontend codebases.
• Required: ability to use AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools to support cross-stack frontend development.
• Able to read, understand, debug, and make reasonable changes in non-primary frontend codebases, such as iOS or Web, with the help of AI tools and team collaboration.
• Familiarity with client-side development patterns such as state management, local storage, API integration, error handling, offline support, and UI consistency.
• Familiarity with real-time communication technologies such as WebSocket, MQTT, gRPC, or similar protocols.
• Understanding of messaging-related concepts such as message delivery, read status, synchronization, local persistence, offline support, retry mechanisms, and push notifications.
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and collaborating with backend services.
• Good understanding of client-side performance optimization, memory management, networking, multithreading/asynchronous programming, and security best practices.
• Familiar with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile development processes.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, ownership, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building Instant Messaging products or communication platforms, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, Discord, Slack, Messenger, or similar products.
• Hands-on experience with iOS development using Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C, or related Apple ecosystem technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Web frontend development using TypeScript, React, Vue, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
• Experience working as a cross-platform client engineer, mobile full-stack engineer, or frontend full-stack engineer.
• Experience using AI tools to complete cross-platform frontend tasks, including feature implementation, bug fixing, testing, refactoring, and technical documentation.
• Experience with frontend-backend full-stack development, including backend API understanding, data model design, simple service implementation, scripting, troubleshooting, and end-to-end testing.
  Familiarity with backend development using languages or frameworks such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Node.js, Python, Spring Boot, or similar technologies.
• Experience with large-scale consumer-facing applications.
• Experience with end-to-end encryption, message security, or cryptographic protocols.
• Experience with multimedia messaging, voice/video calling, or RTC technologies.
• Familiarity with large-scale distributed messaging infrastructure.
• Experience in fintech, payments, crypto, or Web3 applications.
• Open-source contributions or published applications on Google Play or App Store.
